If you’re craving a mix of adventure, nature, and a little luxury, this 4-day Garden Route tour might be exactly what you need. It’s one of those trips where every day feels like a highlight, whether you’re walking through the forests of Tsitsikamma, spotting wildlife in the wild, or just soaking up the peaceful views over Knysna Lagoon.
We’ll take you from beautiful beaches in Plettenberg Bay to cliffside lookouts and cozy coastal towns, with plenty of fun (and optional) extras along the way, think bungee jumping at Bloukrans Bridge, canoeing through rivers, or unwinding with wine tastings and great food at local gems.
Accommodations are thoughtfully chosen, stylish, comfortable places where you can relax after a full day out. It’s not about rushing from place to place, it’s about really experiencing what makes this part of South Africa so special.
Join us for four unforgettable days of nature, adventure, and culture on this amazing Garden Route tour.
Your Garden Route adventure kicks off with a scenic drive from Cape Town to Mossel Bay. The views along the N2 are stunning and set the tone for the adventure ahead.
First stop: a 3-hour safari at Botlierskop Private Game Reserve. You might spot giraffes, rhinos, zebras, and more. It’s a great way to start your journey with a close-up look at South Africa’s wildlife.
If you’re craving a thrill, ocean zip-lining over the rugged coastline is an epic option. It’s fast, fun, and the views are unforgettable.
After the adrenaline rush, we’ll slow things down with a seafood lunch in Mossel Bay. It’s a relaxed town with good food and a great vibe.
From there, we make our way to Knysna. This peaceful lagoon-side town is known for its natural beauty and easygoing feel. You’ll have time to explore, take a walk, or just enjoy the view.
To wrap up the day, we’ll meet for dinner by the water. Watching the sunset over the lagoon is the perfect way to end your first day on the Garden Route.
After breakfast in Knysna, we’ll hit the road toward Tsitsikamma National Park, with coastal views and lush forests setting the scene for the day ahead.
Once we arrive, it’s time to stretch your legs on the famous Suspension Bridge Trail. You’ll walk through dense indigenous forest, past rugged cliffs, and take in sweeping views of the Storms River Mouth and the vast Indian Ocean. The suspension bridges themselves are a real highlight — dramatic, scenic, and totally unforgettable.
After the hike, we’ll stop for a laid-back lunch at the Tsitsikamma Restaurant, where you can enjoy fresh seafood and local favorites in a relaxed setting.
Later in the afternoon, thrill-seekers have the option to take the plunge at Bloukrans Bridge — the world’s highest commercial bungee jump at 216 meters. Not quite your speed? Watching others take the leap is just as exciting (and way less nerve-wracking!).
To wrap up the day, we’ll head to Plettenberg Bay for a refreshing swim, then cruise into the evening with a peaceful sunset boat ride on the Knysna Lagoon. With oysters, champagne, and calm waters, it’s the perfect way to wind down after a full day of adventure.
After breakfast, we’ll set off on a scenic drive to the Cango Caves — one of South Africa’s most iconic natural wonders. Once there, you’ll join a one-hour guided tour, exploring dramatic limestone chambers filled with towering stalactites and ancient stalagmites. As you move through the caves, your guide will share fascinating stories about their history and geology — a definite highlight of the day.
Following the tour, we’ll stop for a well-deserved lunch at a local restaurant, where you can relax and enjoy a tasty, laid-back meal.
In the afternoon, we make our way to Mooiplaas Guesthouse, your home for the night. After checking in, you’ll head out for a special tour of the Mooiplaas Ostrich Farm — a fun and hands-on way to learn about one of the area’s most unique industries.
To end the day, kick back under the stars with a peaceful stargazing session at Mooiplaas. With the quiet of the Karoo and a sky full of stars, it’s the perfect close to a day full of discovery and downtime.
After a leisurely breakfast, we’ll set off on our scenic drive back to Cape Town along the famous Route 62. This peaceful route, known for its breathtaking landscapes and picturesque small towns, offers plenty of opportunities to make unforgettable stops along the way.
One of the highlights of the journey is a visit to the quirky Diesel & Crème restaurant. Here, you can grab a light bite while soaking in the unique decor and enjoying the warm, friendly atmosphere that makes this spot so special.
As we continue our drive, we’ll stop in Robertson, a beautiful wine region, where you’ll enjoy a delightful wine tasting at one of the area’s renowned wineries. You’ll have the chance to sample exquisite local wines, learn about the winemaking process, and savor the flavors of the Cape Winelands.
After this indulgent experience, we’ll continue our journey back to Cape Town, reflecting on the unforgettable experiences we’ve shared over the past few days. It’s the perfect way to wrap up an amazing Garden Route tour.
