Start your 10-day Garden Route adventure in Cape Town, where you’ll immerse yourself in the local history, culture, and the stunning beauty of the city. Explore the Cape Winelands and take in the amazing landscapes shaped by the ocean and weather. If you’re an adventurer at heart, you’ll love the range of activities on offer. And for those wanting to extend the journey, you can catch a flight from Port Elizabeth to Kruger National Park to experience the Big Five up close in their natural habitat.

Itinerary

Day 1:Arrive at Cape Town International Airport

Days Highlights / Activites:

Upon arrival at Cape Town International Airport (CTIA), your local guide and driver will welcome you and accompany you throughout your journey.
Settle into your accommodation and enjoy a relaxing evening as you prepare for the exciting adventure ahead in one of the world’s most beautiful cities.

Day 2:Cape Peninsula Tour

Cape Point & Cape of Good Hope: Start your day with a scenic drive to the southern tip of the Cape Peninsula. Visit Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope, both offering stunning coastal views and rich history.
Hout Bay & Seal Island Cruise: Take a boat cruise from Hout Bay to Seal Island, where you can see a large colony of seals in their natural habitat.
Boulders Beach: Visit the famous Boulders Beach and get up close with the playful African penguins.
Simon’s Town & Kalk Bay: Explore the charming coastal towns of Simon’s Town and Kalk Bay, full of history, local shops, and vibrant culture.
Muizenberg Beach: End the day with a stroll along the iconic Muizenberg Beach, known for its colourful beach huts and perfect surf spots.

Day 3:Table Mountain and City Tour

Table Mountain: Take the cable car up to Table Mountain (weather permitting) and enjoy panoramic views of Cape Town and its surrounding areas, including Robben Island.
Company Gardens: Explore the beautiful Company Gardens, a historic space filled with lush greenery and beautiful sculptures.
Bo-Kaap: Discover the colorful Bo-Kaap neighborhood, famous for its vibrant houses and rich Malay culture.
Eat with the Locals: Enjoy an authentic South African meal with local hosts, tasting traditional dishes and learning about the diverse culinary heritage.

Day 4:Full Day Winelands

Wine Tasting: Spend the day in the picturesque Cape Winelands, visiting top wine estates and sampling some of the finest wines South Africa has to offer.
Chocolate Tasting: Indulge in a chocolate tasting experience, where you can savor artisanal chocolates paired with local wines.
Cheetah Outreach & Lion Park: Visit a Cheetah Outreach program and learn about efforts to conserve these magnificent creatures. Then head to a Lion Park, where you’ll see lions up close in a safe environment.
N2 Scenic Drive: Enjoy the breathtaking landscapes along the N2 as you journey towards the Garden Route.

Day 5:Depart from Hermanus to Oudtshoorn

Cape St. Blair Lighthouse & Scenic Beaches: Begin the day with a visit to the Cape St. Blair Lighthouse, followed by a stop at some of the stunning beaches along the coast.
Hiking & Eco Tours: For nature lovers, enjoy scenic hiking trails or opt for a whale-watching eco tour in Hermanus, one of the best places in the world to spot Southern Right Whales (seasonal).
Drive to Oudtshoorn: After a day filled with natural wonders, continue your journey to Oudtshoorn, known for its ostrich farms and striking landscapes.

Day 6:Oudtshoorn, Cango Caves & Ostrich Farm

Cango Caves: Explore the fascinating Cango Caves, a series of ancient limestone caverns filled with impressive stalactites and stalagmites.
Ostrich Farm & Ride: Visit an Ostrich Farm and learn about the world’s largest bird.
Cango Wildlife Ranch: Visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch, home to endangered species like cheetahs and crocodiles, and enjoy a chance to interact with these incredible animals.
Meerkat Tours: Experience a unique meerkat tour and watch these charming creatures in their natural habitat.
Scenic Drive: End the day with a beautiful drive through either Outeniqua Pass or Robertson Pass, both offering incredible mountain views.

Day 7 & 8:Knysna

Knysna Waterfront & Shopping: Explore the Knysna Waterfront, a bustling area filled with shops, galleries, and restaurants offering local crafts and fresh seafood.
Whale Watching & Boat Cruises: Head out on a whale-watching cruise (seasonal) or take a boat ride to explore the scenic Knysna Heads, where the lagoon meets the ocean.
Biking & Hiking: For the adventurous, enjoy biking and hiking trails through the stunning landscapes of the Garden of Eden.
Elephant Park: Visit the Knysna Elephant Park to learn about these majestic creatures and even interact with them up close.

Day 9:Tsitsikamma, Plett & Port Elizabeth

Bloukrans Bungee & Canopy Tours: Thrill-seekers can try the world-famous Bloukrans Bungee Jump, or enjoy a canopy tour through the Tsitsikamma forest, experiencing the beauty of the lush green surroundings.
Storms River Suspension Bridge: Walk across the iconic Storms River Suspension Bridge, offering stunning views of the river gorge below.
Plettenberg Bay: Relax on the beautiful beaches of Plettenberg Bay or enjoy a walk along the shore.
