Your journey begins with a warm welcome at Cape Town International Airport. After meeting your guide, you’ll set off on a relaxed drive toward Montagu. The route winds through the Robertson Wine Valley, known for its rolling vineyards and scenic beauty.
Along the way, you’ll stop at one of Robertson’s well-loved wine estates. Here, you’ll enjoy a relaxed wine tasting, paired with stunning views and local charm. It’s a perfect way to ease into your journey and experience the rich wine culture of Route 62.
After the tasting, the drive continues through the peaceful Klein Karoo countryside. As the mountains rise around you, you’ll soon arrive in the historic town of Montagu. Once there, settle into your accommodation and enjoy a quiet evening in this charming village.
After breakfast, the day begins with a peaceful wine and cheese river cruise at Viljoensdrift Wine Estate. As you drift along the Breede River, you can enjoy a glass of local wine and a picnic-style cheese platter. Birds fly overhead, and the scenery invites you to slow down.
After the cruise, the journey to Oudtshoorn begins. Along the way, you’ll stop at scenic viewpoints and local landmarks. These breaks are perfect for photos and taking in the wide-open beauty of the Route 62 road trip.
As you travel deeper into the Klein Karoo, the landscapes become more dramatic. Late in the day, you’ll arrive in Oudtshoorn, South Africa’s ostrich capital. Relax and settle in for the night.
Today starts with a visit to the Cango Caves, one of South Africa’s most impressive natural wonders. You’ll explore underground chambers filled with incredible limestone formations. Whether you choose the standard or adventure tour, the experience is unforgettable.
Next, you’ll head to a local ostrich farm just outside Oudtshoorn. Here, you’ll get up close to these fascinating birds. Learn about ostrich farming in the Klein Karoo, how they’re raised, and even feed them if you’d like.
