Tour Itinerary

Day 1 – Cape Town to Mossel Bay & Sedgefield

Depart Cape Town and journey east along South Africa’s iconic Garden Route, where dramatic ocean vistas blend seamlessly with rolling countryside and lush forests.

Arrive at Botlierskop Private Game Reserve for an unforgettable guided 3-hour safari. Explore this scenic private reserve in search of diverse wildlife, from majestic antelope to impressive predators, all within a malaria-free setting.

Continue to Sedgefield for check-in and time to unwind. In the evening, savour a traditional South African braai (barbecue) and dinner at your accommodation.

Overnight: Sedgefield
Accommodation Options: Pili Pili or Kamma Kai Lodge
Included: 3-hour safari and evening braai

Day 2 – Tsitsikamma & Nature’s Valley

After breakfast, travel east toward the village of Storms River, gateway to the lush forests and dramatic coastline of the Tsitsikamma region. This stretch of the Garden Route is known for its ancient indigenous forests, deep river gorges, and rugged ocean scenery.

For adventure seekers, the area offers thrilling optional activities near the iconic Bloukrans Bridge — home to one of the world’s highest commercial bungee jumps. Alternatively, experience the unique rush of black water tubing along the Storms River Gorge, floating through dramatic canyon landscapes beneath towering cliffs.

Later, slow the pace with a visit to the tranquil coastal haven of Nature’s Valley. Here, unspoiled beaches, lagoons, and forest trails provide the perfect setting for a peaceful walk or simply time to relax and take in the natural beauty.

Settle into your accommodation for the evening, surrounded by the serenity of this spectacular coastal wilderness.

Overnight: Tsitsikamma
Accommodation Options: Tube ‘n Axe or Tsitsikamma Forest Lodge
Optional: Adventure activities

Day 3 – Knysna Heads & Cango Caves

Pause at the spectacular Knysna Heads, where dramatic sandstone cliffs frame the entrance to the Knysna Lagoon. This is one of the most photographed viewpoints on the Garden Route, offering wide-open views across the lagoon and out to the Indian Ocean — a must-stop for anyone exploring Knysna.

From here, head inland over the scenic Outeniqua Mountains, travelling into the wide, open landscapes of the Klein Karoo. The drive showcases the striking contrast between the lush Garden Route coastline and the drier, rugged beauty of the Karoo region.

In Oudtshoorn, visit the famous Cango Caves, one of South Africa’s top natural attractions. Join a guided tour through vast underground chambers filled with impressive limestone stalactites and stalagmites — a highlight for visitors to the Klein Karoo.

End the day with a traditional Karoo-style dinner in Oudtshoorn, known as the ostrich capital of South Africa. It’s the perfect way to experience authentic local flavours after a scenic day on the Garden Route.

Overnight: Oudtshoorn
Accommodation: Karoo Soul or Surval Boutique Lodge

Day 4 – Route 62, Robertson Wine Valley & Return to Cape Town

Start the morning in Oudtshoorn with a guided visit to a working ostrich farm. Known as the ostrich capital of South Africa, Oudtshoorn offers fascinating insight into the region’s ostrich industry, from breeding and farming practices to the history that shaped the Klein Karoo economy.

From here, travel along the iconic Route 62, one of the longest wine routes in the world and a scenic alternative to the N2. This popular driving route winds through mountain passes, vineyards, and charming Karoo towns, making it a favourite choice for Garden Route and Cape Town road trips.

Stop for lunch at Diesel & Crème in the village of Barrydale. Famous for its retro décor, gourmet burgers, and indulgent milkshakes, it is a much loved Route 62 highlight with a relaxed small town atmosphere.

Continue to the renowned Robertson Wine Valley for a wine tasting experience. Known for its award winning wines, particularly Chardonnay and Shiraz, Robertson is one of South Africa’s leading wine regions. After your tasting, return to Cape Town in the late afternoon, bringing your Garden Route journey to a memorable close.
